Killy Redwood II Men’s Ski Jacket

Promise

Highly technical skiwear that performs as well as it looks with an expertly tailored cut.

Performance

Killy was established in 1976 by Jean-Claude Killy, a ski racer and gold medalist in the 1969 Olympic Games held in Grenoble. Devoted to technical quality, Killy is 100% French and uses the latest fabric and insulation innovations together with design flare to produce stylish ski wear that really performs.

The Killy Redwood II jacket epitomises true Killy elegance, sporting stunning, timeless lines with modern cuts and high quality technical fabrics.

Its not all about the look of course; the Redwood has plenty of technical specs to back up its rather high price. Four-way stretch fabric gives you the freedom to move while offering a great waterproof rating of 20,000mm. With 15,000g/m2/24H of breathability and primaloft insulation you’ll be kept snug without sweating and after an intensive run you can just unzip the armpit vents. A double-flapped front zip is kept neatly protected with a hidden magnetic closure system and there are four chest zips, two of which are waterproof and two hidden under flaps.

The non-slip powder skirt is fully removable as is the hood and with a designated internal hood pocket, phone pocket, mp3 player pocket, google pocket (with wipe), hidden security pocket, ski pass pocket, back pocket and shoulder pocket you won’t be short on storage and personal comforts. The hood and hems are all fully adjustable and seams fully taped. My only personal gripe would be the lycra cuffs that can be rather uncomfortable when wet (which is often inevitable when tumbling in off-piste powder all day). All this stitching and material weighs in at a hefty 1.84kg, a reasonable weight but never much of an issue when it comes to snow sports.

For women, Killy’s Elevation Range also offers the Teakwood Satin Stretch jacket. Sporting a removable make-up collar, faux-fur-trimmed hood, and even a ceramic thread in the lining to reflect heat back into the body. The Teakwood also promises to cinch you in at the waist for a chic and stylish season on the slopes.

Verdict

The understated styling and comfort detailing – like design-specific storage pockets and soft chin guard – will keep the fashion conscious warm and comfortable on the slopes this winter. As acceptable on the snowy high street as it is in the french alps, Killy has seamlessly combined elegant fashion with outdoor performance albeit, with a rather inflated price tag.
