The global leader in satellite navigation, Garmin, have announced two new skiing GPS navigators for 2011 – one of which you can test drive yourself on selected slopes this season.

Ten specialist ski chalets throughout the French Alps will be giving guests the opportunity to test the Oregon 450 for themselves using Mountain Dynamics SnowRanger ski resort maps.

The Garmin Snow Club is nothing new with 5,000 chalet guests logging a cumulative 10,000 Alpine miles last year. Ski Sunday presenters Ed Leigh and Graham Bell will be blogging about their exploits on www.garminsnowclub.co.uk this season too so get involved and head to one of these great Garmin 2011 Season Test Centres:

Dagon Lodge, Tignes
Fresh Traxx, Chamonix
Rude Chalets, Chamonix
Rude Chaltes, Morzine
More Mountain, Morzine
Star Ski Chalets, Morzine
Pleisure Holidays, Courcheval
Titan Snow, Les Deux Alpes
Hundred Hills, Val D’Isere & Tignes
Alpine Action, Meribel

At the end of your day you can upload your track-logs and enter the Garmin Snow Club League Table to compete with other guests across all test centres. Come the end of the season, Garmin will be rewarding winners with a free week’s chalet holiday. Clock the top speed, cover the most distance or amass the biggest vertical descent and you’re a winner. There’s even an extra prize draw for less extreme users.

If you’re off to The BRITS in the resort of Laax instead you won’t be missing out. The Garmin Downhill Challenge will have wristband-holders charging the Swiss slopes to register their fastest descents for the chance to win a Garmin Forerunner 310xt (worth £300).

Whichever resort you choose, you’re in for some serious fun while you put the Oregon 450 to the test.
