Three wheels, half a horse power and more fun than any other vehicle on earth: that's what the organisers of the now tri-annual Rickshaw Run promise if you sign up to drive with them across the Indian Subcontinent.

Sign-up for the Spring 2010 Run has now opened, so if you fancy getting a team together to drive an auto rickshaw across India, don't think about it for too long - the winter Run is now sold out.

“Our tuk tuk will probably breakdown more than once. We may need to bribe officials. We may even be putting our own lives at risk,” writes a participant of the winter race. However, he adds that the exciting part will be to “see India and what its rich culture has to offer.”

The organisers of the event say they are not in the business of holding hands. Instead they encourage participants to decide how much adventure they can handle. “If you want barren desert, you shall have barren desert, if you want impenetrable jungle it is yours for the taking, if you want to force 150cc of magic up a vast mountain or take a detour to Karachi, so be it.”

Each team raises a minimum of £1,000 for the Run charities, although many go on to raise much more. Above and beyond the £1,000 minimum, teams are allowed to select a registered charity of their choice if they wish.

Setting forth from Fort Kochi in the far south of India, the Spring Run boasts a brand new route - finishing in the impressive desert town of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
