Performance
I'll be honest, I have an aversion to the cold. I'm more a of a beach babe - there's nothing worse than your fingers going numb and not being able to pick up your hot toddy. So on a product testing trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado, I was prepared for my extremeties to freeze - in the name of journalism. I was testing the Golite Roan Plateau 800 Hooded Jacket - a nice-looking 'puffer' padded ski jacket with hood. And all my worries were immediately unfounded: The Roan Plateau is really lightweight, yet kept me warm even when riding a long chairlift to the top of the mountain in sub-zero temperatures. That's always where it gets you - but not with this coat. It's filled with down so I was awarded the same perks geese get when heading south for the winter. The hood was an added bonus as the wind chill was whipping through the tree paths during a snowshoeing lesson. And if that wasn't enough, it's made from recycled materials - so it's warm, fashionable and green. It's like the George Clooney of jackets.

Verdict
I'll be using this for next year's ski trip as well, and although I'm no longer in Colorado, it's still bitterly cold outside so I'll be using the Golite jacket for a while longer.
