Re-usable pocket hand warmer that promises up to 12 hours of continual heat.

Performance

Part of Zippo’s ‘Outdoors Range’ the Zippo Handwarmer at a first glance seems like a great idea. Taking its styling from the iconic lighter, it is a neat, convenient size, which fits easily into any pocket. Simply fill with Zippo lighter fluid, light the glass fibre burner and place into the supplied fabric pouch which can then be tucked in a pocket or next to any bodily area requiring warmth. Having overcome some initial difficulty getting the hand warmer to light, after several attempts it seemed to be working. We are not entirely convinced by the 12-hour guarantee, having only managed to get an hour or so from the warmer before it started to cool down. But while it was warm it provided a pleasant heat and welcome relief to the morning chill.

Verdict

A great idea and useful addition to any outdoor trip, but we question the 12-hour promise.
