Evo Lite men's waterproof jacket
Promise
The most advanced jacket Madison have ever created.
Performance
Madison established themselves in 1977 as a small suburban cycle shop in North West London and can now boast being the UK's leading distributor of bicycle parts and accessories, as well as the UK’s fastest growing motocross and freesports equipment supplier.
To those that know the world of waterproofing inside out, 10,000mm may not seem much to boast about, especially when so many jackets and brands can offer 20,000mm or Gore-tex fabrics. The point is, for comfort on a bike, you don't always need the higher spec.
What this jacket may lack in long-term exposure to driving rains, it makes up for in super light construction and detail. It's fully seam-taped micro rip-stop fabric is tough and soft and stashes down to a non-intrusive size.
The cyclist specific design incorporates an asymmetric front zip to avoid under-chin chafing when fully done up. The innovative single sided draw cord around the neck keeps the rain from running down your back while you maintain one hand on the handle bars. The dropped tail also has single hand draw cords at the hem while articulated cuffs cover your knuckles and velcro down to a snug fit.
Combine all these features with the now popular laser cut zips on the hip pockets, chest and sleeve - add an internal audio port and some pit ventilation and what you have is a cycle jacket that is obviously designed by cyclists.
Verdict
The reflective detailing is minimal, so those that like a jacket for multiple purposes can get away with wearing it in town while the high visibility conscious may need additional reflectors when cycling in the dark. It's an extremely technical jacket for optimum fit and comfort on a bike. Scrunchable into a stuff pocket and tough enough for some off-road rough and tumble, the Madison Evo Lite is an ideal piece of kit for all manner of cyclists.
As tough as Edmund Hillary's original
Technology disguised as clothing? It's the functional alternative to a traditional flannel shirt.
An ultra light, ultra breathable and ultra-packable multi-activity waterproof jacket
