Benchmade's 585 Mini-Barrage knife just won the US Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence's Knife of the Year Award. Not a bad recommendation!

Performance

This knife features an assisted locking mechanism which is said to be the strongest on the market, which makes it safe both in the open and closed positions. We lived with this knife for a good few weeks and both the blade and handle live up to Benchmade's reputation for quality and durability. Other features include an ambidextrous grip, reversible carry clip and a blade just under three inches. I don't hunt, so I took this camping and it lived up to all the tasks I put it through – preparing meat for the grill, cutting rope, even lopping off small branches that were getting in the way of my hammock. It's no suprise that Benchmade has won Knife of the Year eight times since 1998, and WideWorld can't recommend this model highly enough.

Verdict

We love Benchmade knives. It's very hard to find a better made, better quality knife for all your outdoor needs than these. Brilliant. Plus it'll last you a lifetime.
